Kenacort Oral Paste
Kenacort Oral Paste was a like-for-like alternative to Adcortyl in Orabase.
Adcortyl in Orabase was produced and licensed by BMS for use in the UK and before its demise was available over the counter in the small 5g tubes. Kenacort is made in India for another pharma giant - Abbott. In the summer 2015 they changed the formulation from the traditional oily-paste to a more Bonjela-like gel. It does still contain the same 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide, which is the cortico-steroid used to break the cycle of ulcer causing inflammation.
We suspect that this change in formulation was what caused someone to report us to the bureaucrats at MHRA (thanks for that... not).
Immaculately presented men in black suits came to visit us, they clearly dig their image at the tax payers expense, with their suits, white shirts and black ties and badges and leather cases - you know, maybe a phone call would have done the job?
Alas, Kenacort is not "licensed" for use in the UK and we are not allowed to supply it, or Dom goes to prison.
It is bureaucratic BS, a disappointing situation, but, hey it's a free country right! Feb 2016
